CEDENNA researcher and Universidad Diego Portales (UDP) academic Dr. Alvaro Espejo is taking part in the Mining Ministry’s Civil Society Council (COSOC), which held a meeting with Undersecretary of Mining Alvaro Gonzalez, where the sector’s Government Plan, focused on investment, development, and job creation, was presented.
“Taking part in the mining COSOC is an opportunity to connect scientific capabilities with the sector’s concrete needs, both from UDP and from the work we carry out at CEDENNA,” said Dr. Espejo.
The researcher added that forums like this one help build a better understanding of industry demands and open up space for collaboration between the public, academic, and productive sectors.
Created under Law No. 20,500 on citizen participation, COSOC seeks to strengthen the link between the State and civil society by bringing a diverse and representative range of voices into the discussion of the sector’s public policy.
It is an advisory body that brings together civil society representatives to contribute to the development and monitoring of the ministry’s public policies.
