Founded in 2009, the Center for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (CEDENNA) is a multidisciplinary and interuniversity center that brings together specialists in physics, chemistry, engineering, biotechnology, and health sciences. Its purpose is to generate excellent knowledge and transform it into solutions that address scientific, productive, environmental, and social challenges from a collaborative and cutting-edge perspective.

In 2025, CEDENNA was again awarded as a Basal Center by the National Agency for Research and Development (ANID), under the academic leadership of Universidad Diego Portales (UDP), the host institution. Associated universities include Universidad de Santiago de Chile (USACH), Universidad de Chile, Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María (USM), Universidad de Tarapacá (UTA), and Universidad de Talca (UTalca).
